Using an iPhone to create new style portraits

Finally getting round to adding something here

I admire all these people who have blogs and are always updating all the time. I always feel that unless I have something interesting to say, I just keep quiet.

Been doing loads of experimenting with an iPhone and getting some quite good Abstract type work.
Even managed a Portrait with it in the Studio.
This is the first portrait I have tried on the phone and it was a bit underexposed but I reckon I could get an A3+ out of a properly taken image.

Well what I am going to do instead is really try to let my portraits do the talking. If I  have anything of interest then I will pass it on. But for now a few wee portraits.

My Recent Talks on Portrait Lighting.

I did a couple of talks recently, one at Newtownards Camera Club and one in my own club Bangor & North Down CC.

Both talks were on Portraiture and lighting, using whatever lights were available and also using my Nikon sb800 and sb900 fired via the commander mode in the camera. And also using a Metz flash triggered by the other two.

I've been away from this blog for far too long

I know I have a couple of friends who do actually look at this blog, so thank you.

I have been busy on other projects and have been finding the time more difficult. I will try to do better. I am in the process of building 2 new websites, one for my Portraits and one for my Large Canvas Art prints. I am using Wordpress and I am slowly getting there. The first website will be the Canvas Art one. But trying to sort out all the SEO stuff etc. takes ages.

Tonight in my local Camera club I had arranged for 3 speakers to come and give a talk, they are doing a tour round Ireland and came to Bangor & North Down CC first. They are Roy Elwood, Vince Rooker and Arnold Hubber, 3 great speakers and photographers all showing different styles of work. Roy is well known for his nude images and they do not disappoint, you can buy his books from Blurb.com.

Vince Rooker showed some wonderful Colour landscapes from the many places he has visited. And Arnold Hubber entertained us and showed us his passion for infra-red photography, from using film to the present day using a converted Nikon D70 camera. Beautiful work by all three masters.

New work

Working on a new set of pictures at the moment, just got my first one finished ready to submit the the Royal Ulster Academy. Bit different to anything else I have done lately. Will post a picture of it very soon.

A new Blog for me and all about my Photography

Hi,
This Blog is all about my Portraiture Photography, with some Personal Images thrown in along with a few Weddings.
So I hope you will enjoy and please do comment on the Images.
This first image is a 3D composite of small 6"by4" photographs joined to create one large image of the Harland & Wolff Drawing Offices in Belfast. This is where the Titanic drawings were made.
This image is a one off and unique, although I can do the same image as a Canvas Wrap.
